Laboratory Testing in France for International Clients

BJL Laboratories accepts samples from companies, laboratories and technical organisations located throughout Europe and internationally. Samples can be shipped to our laboratory in Sèvres, near Paris, France, subject to prior approval of the sampling, packaging and transport conditions.

BJL Laboratories provides environmental testing, custom chemical analysis, analytical method development, contamination investigations and particle characterisation.

Would you like to send samples to our laboratory in France?

Tell us your country, sample type, required analysis and number of samples. We will assess feasibility and provide shipping instructions before dispatch.

Send your samples to our laboratory in France

For many analytical services, our specialists do not need to visit the customer's facility.

Samples can be collected locally and shipped directly to BJL Laboratories for testing in France.

We can assess requests from customers in Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and other European and international markets.

Custom chemical analysis

Do you need to detect or quantify a substance that is not included in a standard laboratory catalogue?

BJL Laboratories can assess custom analytical projects according to:

  • the target compound or element;
  • the sample matrix;
  • the expected concentration;
  • the required quantification level;
  • the objective of the investigation.

Our analytical capabilities

LC-MS/MS analysis

Liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry can be used for targeted analysis of many organic compounds, including applications requiring high analytical selectivity.

GC-MS analysis

Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry is suitable for many volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, solvents and contaminants.

ICP-OES / ICP-AES analysis

ICP-OES is used for multi-element analysis and measurement of metals and other elements in suitable matrices following appropriate sample preparation.

Particle identification by TEM-EDX

Unknown particles, dust, deposits, residues or inclusions can be investigated using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) combined with EDX elemental microanalysis.

This approach provides information about:

  • particle morphology;
  • particle dimensions;
  • elemental composition;
  • different particle populations;
  • possible similarities with suspected contamination sources.

Applications include:

  • airborne particles;
  • industrial dust;
  • surface deposits;
  • particles in materials;
  • industrial contamination;
  • unknown residues.

PFAS analysis

BJL Laboratories also performs PFAS testing for suitable sample matrices.

For international shipments, sampling containers, preservation conditions and transport time should be confirmed before samples are dispatched.

Contamination and non-conformity investigations

You do not necessarily need to know which contaminant or analytical technique is required.

Our laboratory can assess problems such as:

  • unknown contamination;
  • differences between production batches;
  • suspected raw material contamination;
  • metallic contamination;
  • organic contamination;
  • unknown particles;
  • surface deposits;
  • process-related contamination.

Reference and suspect samples can be compared to identify analytical differences and help guide the investigation.

Analytical method development

BJL Laboratories can assess the development, adaptation or transfer of analytical methods for specific compounds, matrices and industrial applications.

How to ship samples from another country

Please do not ship unusual samples before receiving approval from BJL Laboratories.

  1. Send us the description of your sample and the analytical requirement.
  2. We assess analytical feasibility.
  3. We confirm the required sample quantity.
  4. We define suitable packaging and preservation conditions.
  5. Transport and dangerous-goods requirements are checked where applicable.
  6. Customs documentation is prepared when required.
  7. The sample is shipped to BJL Laboratories in France.

Shipping samples from outside the European Union

Shipments originating outside the European Union may require customs documentation.

Documents should clearly identify the contents as samples intended for laboratory analysis and not goods intended for resale.

Requirements can vary depending on the country, sample type and carrier. Please contact us before shipping.

Information required before shipping

  • country of origin;
  • company name;
  • sample type;
  • known or expected composition;
  • required analysis;
  • number of samples;
  • available sample quantity;
  • potential hazards;
  • required storage conditions;
  • expected turnaround requirements.

Dangerous samples

Some samples may be subject to dangerous-goods transport regulations.

This may apply to certain solvents, flammable liquids, corrosive substances, toxic substances or other hazardous materials.

The actual nature of the sample must therefore be declared accurately to the carrier.

Accreditation

BJL Laboratories is accredited by Cofrac, Testing Accreditation No. 1-0973.

Accreditation applies only to the specific tests included within the applicable scope.

Custom analytical work, method development, investigations and some specialised services may be performed outside the accredited scope.

Where testing is intended to satisfy national regulatory requirements, customers should also confirm the specific requirements applicable in their country.

Remote analytical services

International projects can be managed remotely:

  • technical discussion by email;
  • feasibility assessment;
  • sample shipping;
  • analysis in France;
  • digital analytical report;
  • technical discussion of results where required.
