What is the regulatory limit?

The parameter corresponding to the sum of the 20 PFAS has a parametric value of 0.10 µg/L, equivalent to 100 ng/L.

The sum is calculated from the concentrations of the substances concerned, in accordance with the rules applicable to monitoring and the interpretation of results.

Individual analysis and calculation of the sum

Each compound is tested and quantified individually. The report presents the results for each substance, together with the information required to assess the Sum of PFAS parameter.

The limits of quantification must be appropriate for the required level of monitoring and the value applicable to the sum of the concentrations.

Which types of water should be tested for these PFAS?

  • distributed drinking water;
  • treated water at the treatment plant outlet;
  • raw water used for drinking water production;
  • water from abstraction points;
  • groundwater;
  • surface water used as a drinking water resource.
