PFAS Testing in Water
BJL Laboratoires provides PFAS testing in water, including drinking water, groundwater, surface water, process water and industrial aqueous samples.
Targeted PFAS analysis is performed using LC-MS/MS. The analytical programme is selected according to the water matrix, target compounds, required limits of quantification and the purpose of the investigation.

PFAS Analysis by LC-MS/MS
BJL Laboratoires uses liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for targeted PFAS analysis.
The technique is suitable for the selective identification and quantification of targeted compounds that may be present at low concentrations.
The analytical programme may be defined according to:

- the PFAS compounds to be investigated;
- the expected concentration range;
- the required limits of quantification;
- the regulatory or environmental context;
- the number of samples.
PFAS Testing in Drinking Water
For drinking water, BJL Laboratoires offers a standard analysis covering the 20 PFAS included in the European “Sum of PFAS” parameter.
The European parametric value for the Sum of PFAS is 0.10 µg/L, equivalent to 100 ng/L.

PFAS Testing in Groundwater and Environmental Water
Groundwater testing can support contamination investigations, environmental monitoring and comparison of concentrations between monitoring wells, boreholes or sampling locations.
For environmental waters, the analytical programme should be defined according to the objectives of the study and the PFAS compounds of interest.
PFAS Testing in Industrial Water and Effluents
PFAS may also be investigated in industrial water matrices such as:
- process water;
- wash water;
- treated effluents;
- untreated effluents;
- aqueous discharges;
- environmental monitoring water around industrial sites.
PFAS Sampling Precautions
PFAS sampling requires particular care because some equipment and consumables may contain fluorinated materials capable of contaminating a sample or affecting the analytical result.
- use sampling bottles specified by the laboratory;
- avoid uncontrolled use of PTFE and other fluoropolymer materials;
- clearly identify each sampling point;
- record the sampling date and time;
- follow the required storage conditions;
- avoid cross-contamination between samples.
